Sir Max is a 4+ year old,
good looking, large, papered Yellow Lab. This guy is one of the best
trained dogs rescue has seen in a while. He walks well on a leash, sits,
lays down, stays, heels, and points. Yes, he points, since attending a
20day hunting school when he was younger. Retrieving is not his favorite
game, he would rather show you where the ball is with one foot in the
air and a determined stare. Max sleeps the night in a crate and does
well during the day if no one is home. For a four year old, Max still
has a lot of energy that will have to be channeled through walks, maybe
hunting, mental games and playtime. This is no couch potato, and he will
get very bored if he is not exercised.
Max learns very quickly, and appears to be quite intelligent. This
intelligence comes with an ability to test his owner and the limits of
acceptable behavior.
If you are looking for a driven dog, with above average intelligence,
and can promise him consistent exercise and be the leader of "the pack",
Max maybe your man. Max is not a suitable dog for an inexperienced Lab /
dog owner, and although he is not aggressive in anyway, he probably
would be best without small children or cats. He loves other dogs and
people.
